Default leechers/afk

I enjoy the game a lot and have been playing since the original release but one thing that really needs to be fixed is leechers/afk players. I have been playing in fort aspenwood and almost always have 1 to 2 leechers which is not that bad and the game believe it or not can still be enjoyable but today there are constantly 3 to 4 leechers and it is getting to be unacceptable and is ruining an otherwise great game. It would be great if arenanet/ncsoft would implement a "boot leech" feature where if everyone in the group agreed we could kick them and then have a feature where we could invite other players in to take their place. I know this feature could be abused by some players but I think that by having a somewhat democratic process where everyone would have to agree to boot the player it would quell that somewhat if not entirely. I realize this is only a suggestion and you may be aware of the problem already and working on a different solution entirely and if that is the case, then I applaud you, but please, please, please do something to alleviate this problem.

Qwert, if you dislike the game so much, please leave. Some of us actually do like the game, and for the record, I've been gaming since before Commander Keen. Wait you're probably too young to even know what/who Commander Keen was.

leech problem is simple:

If a player on mission is in active for (lets say) 5 minutes they are kicked from group automatically. this still gives room for error for the 56k users.

The group kick idea wouldnt work, lets say you pay for a run, then right before pay point you kick the runner. I say this cause most times with my sin I can keep up with a runner I just dont have the map to go the right way.

Problems is if anyone plays WoW people just follow a NPC around and that counts as activity. if the player /dance it shouldnt count as activity. it would have to be running/fighting/spellcasting.

you quiet obviously havent read 100s of other threads about leechers, otherwise you would've known that afk detectors DO NOT work. All you have to do to avoid being detected is to make your bot cast healing sig every so often. And if you try to make detector smarter it may start hurtin legitimate players like monks and amber runners.

Well the kick will have to be a vote. Also we should have the group leader start the voting.
I really agree that they should be kicked but I don't like the idea of inviting someone else during a game...

The reason why a feature like this isn't implemented is because its far too easy to abuse. It would be nice to be able to do some thing about leechers and afkers. But its just not simple to implement a system like that.

ok heres what I dont understand, since they were mentioned. Bots, whats the point? I mean if you arent even going to play the game why buy it?
I saw bots on Diablo2 and other RPGs I dont get it. OOO I have a ton of gold or items. so what, you dont even play. I know there isnt much we can actually do against leechers but why do people feel the need to ruin a game for those of us that do like to play? If we all took screen shots and the whole party sent them in showing Anet the leech they wouldnt do anything about it. (though it would be nice) It just P----s me off. I ran a mission last night and some tard leeched. He was our other monk, so we had one healer for arborstone.

Ok I am done ranting, sorry.

and u must have missed the cadet thing by my name, I have been on the board 3 days I think. No I didnt go through the entire history and read everything ever posted. as for hurting legitimate players. if they are within a certain range of the enemy they are considered to be fighting. so they should be safe from the boot. as I said in my first post, its just an idea. the biggest problem with anything that kicks inactives is it would completely nerf running.

and what the certain range would be? Hint: no matter what range would it be I can give you situation where either leecher will get away or real player will get punished for nothing.

Kudos for Commander Keen reference! My first computer was a Commodore 64,those were the days!
Back on Topic:
The best way to do it might be to report it like scamming, screen shots and what not. Its so difficult to take out the leechers and such without hurting actual players with slow comps, etc. that the criteria might be real strict though. A standard definition/defining standard would have to be created before anything could be put into action universally. Once thats done, everything else should follow.

And you are here why? Yes this game is great. The greatest
And I am positive I have been playing games long long before you.

As for leechers and afk---- They are a curse. I love the one (sigh) "Just go ahead without me I will catch up" Better yet is the one who runs off and gets killed and---- "It's ok I will rez in the end"

There is no real solution that I can see. One way can lead to abuse and no action is hard to take also.

I agree with take screen shots, write down names.
I have a list myself as a matter of fact

So have a command like unto /resign..

So.. Leader spots a leecher. He says '/kick target' after targeting leecher/afk.
Whoever agrees with him would say '/kick' and whoever didnt would remain silent..?

Nothing much. Rarely but there are times when afk is valid. And dc is
something no one can help.

As big as GW is you do run into the same ppl and I just wouldn't want
to be on the same team again.

So to answer your question: The list is just for my personal reference

I completely agree. Please Anet, do something about this. Fort Aspenwood desperately needs these people out of there. Whether they're griefing, too lazy, can't stand any aspect of PvP, or are spies from the other team trying to sabotage a win, they completely ruin the experience there for many people. One of them even shows up without any armor, and a dragon mask. If not a vote system, maybe put them into observer mode or SOMETHING.

Ok I found a reason to like leechers. While doing the fight for faction points, Aspenwood,
(luxon side) the people on the kurziks had only 3 players everyone else was afk. The 500 faction points for about 5 minutes time was nice.

and I know people sell gold/items on ebay. again I think this is stupid. First its not that hard to earn money on GW. second why pay real money, for a few bites of information on a computer. I mean its a game, a great game yes, but still just a game.
